The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo is home to the mountain gorilla. This endangered species is threatened by deforestation, as trees are felled for fuel. But now the Congolese Institute of Nature Conservation is promoting a new form of 'biomass' fuel -- a low-cost alternative to charcoal made using paper, water and leaves.
