Petra Solar's utility-pole mounted panels do more than provide distributed solar power for electric companies. Their micro-inverter can be programmed to perfrom VAR injection (power factor correction) to help stabilize the grid while their wireless telemetry system gives grid operators a detailed picture of the panel's operating status as well as local line voltage and current. Adding this capability helps pave the way for upgrading a distribution network to a Smart Grid.
